If you are looking for your first sheltie, you may not realize that they come in
different colors. Pictured above are the “blue merle”, “tri-color”, and “sable”. Although much can be said about color, the purpose of this page is just to draw your attention to the different colors.
It is important to note, that not all shelties have white collars, or face blazes.
The “blue merle” puppy pictured above is primarily blue with black merle spots,
white and has tan facial markings. No two are marked a like. Some blue’s do not have any tan, and are called “bi-blues”.
Black shelties, like the blues, come with and without tan.
Tri colors (predominately black, with white and tan), and the bi-black (just black with white).
“Sables” range in color from golden through mahogany.
